I fought with my weight for over three decades. I used to live on 800 calories a day with mostly Diet Coke, microwave popcorn and apples.
Points, powders, patches and pills – I’ve tried them all but nothing worked for very long. The fat would come back, and then some.
Once I decided to have kids, I finally learned how to eat nutritious food because I knew what I ate would influence their health too. I went on to have three very healthy babies, including a set of identical twin boys.
As my passion for wellness grew, I went back to school to become a Certified Holistic Nutrition and Wellness Coach.
I used my kids as the excuse for carrying the extra pounds.
I hid behind them in pictures so no one could see my body. I’d say that I wear yoga pants to keep up with the kiddos when really my jeans were uncomfortably tight.
I tried all the ‘healthy ways’ to lose the weight. I was trained for this for goodness sakes! I counted calories, tracked macronutrients and worked out five days a week, but the scale didn’t budge.
I loved my life, my family, my kids, my work. But every time I looked in the mirror, my body didn’t match how I wanted to feel. Something was off. It just didn’t feel right.
I just didn’t feel like me.
On my twins’ sixth birthday, I’d finally had enough. I said to myself“Janice, you can’t keep doing this. Just decide to love your body as it is or finally lose the weight for good. No more struggling with this. BE DONE!”
